Now, I have to admit that I had no idea that bamboo had been transformed into a fabric that is currently popular with the granola set. I have also spent virtually no time pondering what rayon is made from although it turns out some of it is made from bamboo cellulose. So when I found out that the eco-friendly claims of bamboo clothing manufacturers have been struck down, I was left scratching my head. It turns out that transforming bamboo (or beech or oak) cellulose into rayon require a whole lot of processing with nasty chemicals you wouldn't want within fifty miles of your house let alone strapped to your body.

Interesting things can always be found at the Chelsea Flower Show, but this is probably the first time someone has shown up with a garden made out of plasticine. The artist is not sure he will be invited back again, but at least he turned a few heads while he could.
