Carbon offsets have always struck me as a bad idea and this article on Reuters confirms that they now rank as the world's worst performing commodity. If you want to offset your carbon-spewing lifestyle, plant a tree. Better yet, plant ten. Trees sequester large amounts of carbon and continue to do so for the life of the plant. If big business was forced to plant forests to offset their emmissions, we'd one day get the whole deforestation problem under control and reduce atmospheric carbon at the same time.
